Dummy Flight Ticket Booking, Step by Step
A dummy flight ticket is booked like a real one — the difference is only at the end, where the seat is held rather than bought.
1. Choose the route and the date
Use the dates you actually plan to travel. The reservation has to agree with the rest of your file: the hotel, the travel insurance and the dates written on the visa form.
2. Choose one-way, return or multi-city
Most visa files want a return or onward flight. A return is held as one reservation covering both legs.
3. Pick the flight
Full-service airlines are listed first, because their reservations can be held most reliably. Direct flights come before connections.
4. Enter the travellers
Each traveller exactly as printed in the passport — the same spelling, the same order of names. One reservation carries every traveller on the order.
5. Confirm your email and pay
A code is sent to the address you give, so the reservation goes to an inbox you can open. ₹400 per passenger per direction, plus 18% GST — ₹472 for one passenger one way; 25% off the flight price for two or more travellers or a return.
6. Receive it and check it
The reservation is emailed as a PDF, usually within 10 to 60 minutes. Enter the PNR and surname on the airline's Manage Booking page before you submit it.
Timing
Every hold expires. Book close to your appointment rather than weeks ahead, and compare the printed expiry with the date you will submit. Some consulates ask for a paid ticket instead — check the checklist first.
